Markopoulo Mesogeas → Spata-Loutsa Departure Day: Spata-Loutsa to Markopoulo Mesogeas Today marks the start of our journey as we depart from Spata-Loutsa, Attica, and make our way to Markopoulo Mesogeas, also in Attica. The distance for this leg of the trip is a relatively short 13.4 km, allowing us to take our time and savor the sights along the way. We'll begin our ride by heading south on the Marathonos Avenue, which will take us through the heart of Spata-Loutsa. The roads are in excellent condition, with smooth asphalt and gentle curves that will allow us to settle into our bikes and find our rhythm. As we leave the urban area behind, the landscape will gradually transition into a more rural setting. We'll pass by olive groves and vineyards, with the majestic Hymettus Mountain providing a stunning backdrop to our ride. The pace will be leisurely, allowing us to take in the sights and sounds of the Attic countryside. We'll make a few stops along the way, perhaps to stretch our legs, snap a few photos, or even grab a light snack at a local café. Our final destination, Markopoulo Mesogeas, is a charming town known for its rich agricultural heritage and traditional Greek architecture. We'll have the opportunity to explore the town's narrow streets, visit the local farmers market, and perhaps even sample some of the region's renowned olive oil and wine. As we bring our first day's ride to a close, we'll have the chance to reflect on the beauty of the Attic landscape and the sense of adventure that has already begun to take hold.
